Woops I'm late

March 7th.. It's Tuesday already,
Last week, I cancelled out of Monday men's golf, as I twisted my back throwing the Colmen stove out into the street ~ don't laugh, it was fully engulfed in fire, even the small propane canister was shooting out flames.

Three good things::
  1. The flames went out
  2. I saved the bacon
  3. got it fixed.

So make sure you have a solid connection BEFORE you light the flame..
Tuesday we went up to BEAR CREEK, Mary, Bev, Brian and I plus Barry, Alana, Steve and Jill played the CUB course -poured rain for 1 1/2 holes, then the sun came out, later we went to Dave's Famous Ribs in Chandler - lots of fun...and FOOD.
Wednesday was golf in the park for Mary and Bev.
Thursday - golf @ Dave White with the Palm Creek Hackers, Bev took the shuttle to SkyHarbor to head home. That night Mary and I went to the palm Creek Chorus concert as 2 of our neighbors are Choir members, very talented group - great concert.
Friday, the Duel in the Desert pickleball tourny started, park started to fill with pickleballers from all over the states and Canada. Our friend Alana had a small birthday party at Bedillons that evening, more good food and fun.
Saturday we headed up to Mesa Market - some things never change, lots of items but nothing really exciting that we needed. After we stopped in to ValVista park and had a short visit with an old friend Dennis McElroy.
Sunday we completed the week by going to the PC art show (more talented people) and watching some of the Duel in the Desert.

HAPPY HOUR ...

  Feb 27th
Monday men's golf at PC  ~~ nothing great to report, followed by pool time and happy hour
Tuesday, Mary and I went up to Phoenix to pick up our friend Bev, who is visiting for 10 days.her flight was delayed, so got home just in time for happy hour
Wednesday, Mary and Bev golfed with the PC Ladies, later hung around the pool , read, swam, and hot tubbed. Brian & Chris came up for happy hour
Thursday usual golf at Dave White GC, weather was sunny but a cool wind made us keep the sweaters on.
Friday - Mary and Bev did some shopping, then after lunch we went to Francisco Grande,  Afternoon golf was a bit slow, so when we finished the front 9, we went back out and played the front again, much faster with no one in front of U. Later we looked for a place to have dinner, BUT every place we looked was busy, ended up at Culvers , a fast food franchise. Saw quite a few friends and neighbours from the park "dining out"
 https://www.culvers.com/
Saturday - Headed down to Tucson, went to the Taylormade store at the Outlets, but was not in the market for new equipment. Then we went to Old Tucson , the film set where "Little House on the Prairies" " Bonanza" and lots of John Wayne films were shot. Back just in time for happy hour at our neighbours. http://oldtucson.com/

February ~ half way thru...

Kingfisher @ Palm Creek

the "gang" at Bear Creek
Tue we went to Bear Creek with the PC gang.
Later we all went to an Italian place, almost walked out as the "decor" was sketchy, BUT everyone agreed that the food was GREAT..who knew!!

Wednesday. Mary played in Ladies PC, as I said the weather was so nice, we went to the pool, and swam, and sunned.
Thursday, my weekly trek to Dave White GC with the PC hackers ~ didn't play great but lots of fun...
Golf road trip on Friday, we met Jim and Milana 1-1/2 hrs away at Saddlebrooke (east of Tuscon) Took a shortcut thru the Catus Forest ~ had to pause on the road while a herd of cattle meandered thru.  After golf we hit the Cadillac Chapperal Restaurant and Saloon. This place is 25 miles from nowhere, but always busy and u can get a 16 oz steak complete with salad, beans and baked potato for $15

Moon over Saddlebrooke
On the way out the moon was full and lit our way home..
til next week.

Week # 2 - Its getting Warmer

Jan 29th... Last week I asked "where's the heat", this week we can feel it's coming. The weather in California  if any body has heard was not A -typical, and it came thru Arizona as well. here's the forecast. As I type its only 6* C but does warm up quickly.

We have a golf and happy hour on Sundays with a group friends from the park, last week it was bowling instead. We went out to Ak Kin casino in Maricopa -big entertainment center with bowling alleys. After bowling (well some of us tried)  we had drinks and appies. Mary ordered the Virgin Caesar The bill came and we were charged for a Bloody Mary, When I inquired I was told the price was correct,?? next time she'll order a Virgin with the alcohol on the side >> The rest of the week did get better, golf on Monday (men's Club) golf on Tuesday at Bear Creek in Chandler (followed by dinner) at Eva's Mexican Restaurant with our golf group.

Mary played on Wednesday, then laundry, I played again Thursday with the Palm Creek hackers" . Friday we did some grocery shopping and rode our bikes.
While I was going to Home Depot for some stuff, a police car stopped all the traffic on the main street to let a helicopter land
(looked like a motorcycle accident)

Saturday in the park was Home Coming. All the groups and clubs set up displays and people can sign up or join. They have a band playing and food is served... There are over 40 clubs such as woodworking, silversmithing and sports, softball, pickleball and oh yea golf. The theme was Welcome Home (Western style) They has some live bacon there, not sure it's signifigence

Thats our week, so looking forward to Arizona weather, where we can enjoy the out doors.

WEEK # 1 - WHERES THE HEAT??

January 17, 2017  ok we arrived on Jan 12th took a few days to settle in, get groceries, booze, and meet up with neighbours and friends. Monday I golfed in the men's club. our team finished 1 stoke out of the $$, gonna have to make 1 more putt next week. After golf I met an old Kitimat friend Dennis McElroy and caught up on the past few years ~~actually probably 30 yrs since we saw each other last. (although thanks to "Facebook" we do see everyone in the present.)  Got the RV washed in the afternoon, and cleaned up our site. Tuesday went down to the pool and hot tub , swam a bit and read our books in the sun .

Mary golfed in the ladies on Wednesday, and I played with my usual group, the PALM CREEK HACKERS on Thursday.  Was supposed to head down to Quarry Pines in Tucson on Fri for golf but the weather was not great, so we are postponing the trip for a week. Instead Mary & I went up to the Costco in Chandler with Chris and Brian.
We met up with our Penticton friends Donna and Armond later that night at their rental -had a great dinner and played cards -the rain and wind started and was so bad, Armond had to give us a ride home as walking was out of the question.
As I said, WHERE'S the HEAT? We have seen some sun, but for the most part its been a bit cool with wind, so looking forward to the next few weeks and sunshine (please)
