the past week Jan 15-26th

OK, been a little bit since I updated, Winter in Arizona is so much nicer for us old folks than it is at home, at least weather wise, Mary has been complaining that it was a bit cold, (I say cool) - to be honest we did have some wind and almost freezing temps, but by mid day it did warm up quick. The coming weeks it is supposed to get hot again, in the 80's F or close to 30* C
Lola has been pretty good, seems to be enjoying the sunshine as well.

The past few evenings, there has been gorgeous sunsets, will have to try to get a great picture and post
So we have been golfing😎

  • Robson Ranch on Sunday with the Keegans,
  • Monday Men's in the park for me,
  • Tuesday I played at Francisco Grande
  • Wednesday, Mary -Ladies day in the park where she won longest putt
  • Thursday, my regular Hackers group at Dave White.
Mary has taken a few pickleball lessons, and is enjoying the game when she can find partners of her calibar.
Our friends the Duggers arrived and we have had a couple of dinners with them, Happy hours and visits with fellow snowbirds filled the rest of the afternoons and evenings. We had a fun games nite with neighbors - we played a variety of board , dice, etc games.🎲
Casa Grande had a street fair and car show last week, lots of booths and 3 blocks of cars and motorcycles. Didn't need anything, so came home empty handed

Our slingbox is working good, so we are are able to watch the Canucks (although most nites its only 2 periods as they either stink or its bed time) as we are on Central mountain time - an hour behind the coast. Curling (Scotties) start this weekend, so may catch some of that.

Sunshine 2ND WEEK

Jan 8 - 14th.

Tuesday Sunshine started our 1st full day in PC. We started to unpack the truck and trailer, but didn't set too much up as the forecast was rain and wind.😑 There was the monthly craft fair up in the main parking lot, so we rode the bikes up and had a look around, Later, still waiting for the anticipated storm, after happy hour, dinner and walking Lola the wind started, but no rain. Off to bed and just asleep when the rain pounded the roof, lightning flashed thru the windows, followed by great claps of thunder - the desert storm that blew in from California arrived.
Wednesday Thought Lola had acclimatized herself to RV living (like sleeping in) but NO, 5:30 am wakeup for Cliff 😫. The rain had washed everything, lots of puddles, had to dry a few things out. The sun did show up and I got the outside fixed up while Mary cleaned and re-arranged the inside  .   - happy hour at our neighbours across the street, then dinner completed the day
Thursday - 8:07 tee-time , met up with most of the group we call the PC Hackers,⌣⌣⌣,  although I did sort of enjoy playing at home in the mud and rain, it is so much more enjoyable to hit the ball in the sunshine and warmth,:}
did I mention that we did some grocery shopping, as well as stocked up the wine cellar (buy 6 or more = 25% off - 6 bottles for $40.00 🍷😼)The rain was a bonus as it got all the dust off the RV and I just scrubbed the bugs off the front, so I'll save a few $$ not having it washed , although we did take the truck thru the carwash
Friday  ..😍 an easy day, rode the bikes, walked the dog, read a book, over to.the mall so Mary could pay here Kohl's bill - even came home with nothing ☺. took Lola into Petsmart, had to drag her a bit as she refused to walk on the linolium..
Saturday Big Cup Golf tourney with Brian & Chris - started out great and faded to mediocrity, we did finish with a decent score but no winners, just fun, needless to say we all putted GREAT . It was Mary's first game since hip surgery and Chris's first in a few weeks they did really well, Lunch on the patio, then more vegging around the campsite. :)
Sunday - an early 6:30 am start to the dog park for Lola and ME :(..I went out to Harbour Freight - got a few great deals, nothing I really needed , but may need in the future..
Monday - Men's golf here at Palm Creek, started off bad 😱, but recovered to have a decent game. note**on the longest hole on the course (176 yds) over a lake with fountain I hit it to 6" - birdie -- ahh. Home, clean -up , lunch , relax. Happy hour cocktails at the neighbours, then diner, walk the dog and ZZZ

Arizona 2018 The Trip Down

 The Trip Down JANUARY 2 - 7TH.
Ok, New Years is over and we hit the road Tuesday January 2, 2018, we made great time for 30 minutes til the Peach Arch border crossing, where the almost annual "random inspection " occurred. After a nice chat with the Border Patrol, and a inspection of the rig,we were on our way again minus a plastic bag of Lola's dog treats that were unlabelled. Thru Seattle with very little traffic, we motored down the I-5, Portland was also uneventful. Driving conditions were great and we reached our planned stop for the night by 2pm, too early so we opted to keep going to Seven Feathers RV & Casino in Canyonville. It was dark when we arrived at 6:15pm.
Wednesday 9am departure from 7 Feathers, heading for the Siskyou Pass and into California. Weather and driving conditions were still great, until we got close to Sacramento where it started to sprinkle rain off and on, nearing 4pm rush hour was beginning, but tailing a semi in the truck lane we got to Lodi and Flag City RV by 5PM
Thursday another 9 am departure down California route 99 passing thru farm, cattle and wine country, with a stop in Turlock, Ca at Costco for a few supplies. The AC in the truck had to be activated :) ..  Made good time and arrived at Orange Grove RV park in Bakersfield Ca. by 3PM - time to relax and pick oranges right off the tree.
Friday - usual 9am departure on Ca 58 east up over the Tehachapi pass and thru the Mohave desert, little traffic and cruising at 65MPH we got into Lake Havasu state park
(one of Marys  favourites)  We were a day early but managed to get a spot for the night, even though we would have to move sites the next day.
Saturday JANUARY 6 - Happy Birthday to Mary. The site we were going to was occupied and the occupants were not leaving til check out time at noon, so walked around the park, then tidied up the RV and packed a few things, Mary was walking around the RV with Lola in tow, when Lola saw another dog and wanted to say Hi, pulled Mary over right on her face.
A few scraps, but thankfully nothing worse.  happy birthday. We did get into our new site, then went out,got some more supplies, visited ATT to activate Marys I Pad 3G, then found a great dog park for Lola, she ran her butt off and then vegged for the rest of the day.
Sunday - easy day, a few walks for Lola, We were to visit Marys cousin Shirley, but the flu was at their place, so we just chatted and got caught up on the phone. We returned to the dog park later in the day and Lola was in her glory running and playing after the 5 days travelling in the back seat in her crate. Did I mention that for a 10 month old pup, she was a great traveller.
Monday  heading for Palm Creek Golf and RV resort in Casa Grande, a short 4 1/2 hr drive. Arrived by 1:30 got set up, welcomed by old friends and new neighbour's, ahh,,our winter home
that's all for this week folks, tune in next Monday for more updates
